BRENTWOOD Hockey Club’s men’s first XI came from behind to pick up their first win of the season at Bourne Deeping.
The side triumphed 4-3 to beat the Lincolnshire side, with goals coming from James Duggan, Steven Naven, Jak Taylor and Alex Henderson.
Brentwood overturned a 2-1 half-time deficit and held on in the dying moments after the two-goal cushion they had earned at 4-2 caused complacency, leading to a nervy final few moments after Deeping nicked a third.
But the team survived, climbing to fifth in the East Men’s Hockey League Division One.
The ladies’ first XI put in a determined display to beat Maidstone and make a return to winning ways.
Lauren Slater drilled the ball home for the game’s only goal, coming from Brentwood’s first short corner of the game.
After a dominant first-half display by the hosts, Maidstone upped the tempo in the second half, enjoying long periods of possession.
But, following a tense finale, Brentwood held on to secure the win and get back to winning ways after defeat to Chelmsford.
