A TEENAGE tennis talent had the chance to play in front of former British No. 1 Tim Henman at Wimbledon.
Jonathon Price, 13, from Chelmsford, was competing in the HSBC Road to Wimbledon National 14 & Under Challenge finals.
He had booked himself a spot at SW19 by triumphing in the regional finals in Welwyn Garden City, but was knocked out in the group stages at the iconic venue after one win from three matches.
Jonathan, who attends Reeds School, in Cobham, Surrey, where Henman is a former pupil, said his outing at the All England Club was the highlight of his year.
He said: “This is my first time at Wimbledon and playing on grass – it’s amazing really. This is a tournament I have always dreamed of playing in.
“Looking at Tim Henman, he has done what most people want to do, and being able to speak to someone who has done it is a brilliant experience.”
Four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Henman said: “There are 10,000 kids every year in the Road to Wimbledon and it’s great to see how the standard has improved over the years.”
