A CHARITY ran foodbank has found a new home with help from a council after its previous lease came to an end.

Chelmsford Foodbank, run by the charity Oasis Church, has distributed over 71.5 tonnes of food parcels from its Goldlay Gardens base.

Now, it will continue its work after Chelmsford City Council found it a new base close to the city centre.

Leader of Chelmsford City Council, Councillor Roy Whitehead, said “The City Council is continuing to help those in need and I am delighted that we have been able to find a home for the Food Bank who does such excellent work in the community. We are finalising the details for them to re-locate to a unit close to the City Centre so that they can carry on their excellent work.”

Foodbank project manager, Ruth Leverett, said “We are very grateful for the support of the City Council in allowing us use of Unit 1.

“It will provide important overflow storage and office space and help to continue the vital work of the Foodbank in Chelmsford.”

All donated food parcels should continue to be sent to Chelmsford Foodbank, Vicarage Hall, 450 Beehive Lane, Chelmsford, CM2 8RN.
