A TEAM of Soul music fans have got together to tackle Bowel Cancer on the 50th Anniversary of England’s 1966 World Cup win.

They are organising a unique event in Brentwood, with all proceeds going to the Bobby Moore Fund-Cancer Research UK.

The Soul Music Alldayer will be held in the Marquee at the Halfway House Pub on the A127, Southend Arterial Road in West Hordon, Brentwood from 1pm until 1am, on Saturday July 30.

The day will see a line-up of UK renowned Soul Music DJs playing a selection of Soul, Disco, Jazz Funk, Hip-Hop and House Music Classics from the last 40 years.

They include Jeff Young who can be remembered for pioneering Dance Music on BBC Radio 1 in the Eighties, alongside DJ and Events Promoter Bob Masters, recently back from his annual event the Ibiza Soul Week, attended by over 900 people.

Other DJs giving their time to the cause, include Paul Clark, Stretch Taylor, Scott James, Tony Fernandez, Brian Jay, Jonny Layton, Mark Messent, Giles Pratt, Darren Bull, Matt Jackson, Paul Abbott, Paul Manning, Andy Sharp, Chris Alexander, Smurphy Edwards, Michael’Birdy’ Bird, and Micky Johnson.

Amanda Stacey one of the Gigs Organisers from Canvey Island said: “So many of our friends and family have been affected by Cancer, we decided to do something to help in the battle against the disease.

"We realised this year marks 50 years since England’s 1966 World win, so it made sense to celebrate the Anniversary, honour Sir Bobby Moore and raise some money for the Charity at the same time.”

The Bobby Moore Fund is part of Cancer Research UK; Bobby’s wife Stephanie set it up after he died aged just 51, following his battle with Bowel Cancer.

Entry is limited to those aged 30 and over. Tickets are priced at £20 plus booking fees, they can be bought online at www.musicmeltdown.co.uk or call 07548 100260.
