Diabetes UK is seeking volunteers to step up to the challenge and arrange a local walk to help raise vital funds to support people with diabetes.

As part of the charity’s nationwide Walk for Diabetes initiative, you can decide on how long or short the walk will be, and what route to take – the key thing is to get everyone in the group to ask their family and friends to sponsor them to get to the finish line.

Upon signing up to arrange a walk, you will receive support from our team every step of the way.

You will receive an Organiser’s Pack, sponsorship forms, Diabetes UK posters, special organiser’s t-shirt, and a dedicated member of our fundraising team will help you turn your plan into reality.

Clare Allen, Diabetes UK Regional Fundraising Manager, said: “Group walks can be a huge amount of fun and a chance to explore your local area on foot.

"Anyone of any age can take part in our Walk with Diabetes events making them a great day out for the whole family.

“Walking is a great way for everyone to keep physically active, which can help you maintain a healthy weight and so reduce your chance of getting Type 2 diabetes.

"For people with diabetes, getting plenty of exercise and following a healthy diet is key to managing their condition.

“You can invite as many people as you like on your walk, the distance can be as short or great as you choose and it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to complete your walk, as long as you do!”
