A school is in negotiation for a school site on Sawyers Hall Lane in Brentwood.

The retained site of Sawyers Hall College, adjacent to Becket Keys Church of England Secondary School is currently being considered for Grove House School.

Essex County Council are supportive of the proposal and will confirm their final decision in the New Year.

The site features its own access road, on-site parking, a large quadrangle with light, spacious classrooms and a generous playing field.

An extensive refurbishment project would begin in the Spring term to deliver state-of-the-art educational and therapeutic facilities, ready for pupils to start at the school in September 2015.

Sally Lockyer, Chair of the Grove House School Academy Trust, said: ‘We are very excited that the plans for the school are progressing at pace.

"This would be a wonderful building and site for Grove House School’s pupils.

"Sawyers Hall Lane is a busy road, but this will be a very small school, with pupils arriving in escorted vehicles.

"Essex County Council has estimated that at capacity pupils will arrive in eight minibuses, all to be parked on-site."

Grove House School, proposed by a group of local teachers and special needs professionals, will cater for pupils between 9 and 19 with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties.

The language-focused school will offer an adapted and differentiated mainstream curriculum, developed and delivered collaboratively by a team of specialist teaching and therapeutic staff.

Applications are now open for pupils starting in September 2015.

Parents can find more information about pupil admissions on the school website www.grovehouseschool.co.uk

Meetings for parents are being held on January 22 at 7pm and January 23 at 1pm in the Brentwood Cathedral Hall to introduce the newly-appointed Principal Designate, Lisa Christodoulides.
