AN Essex County Council proposal for roads in the south and rural Brentwood area will look to introduce a 20mph speed limit.
The recommendation comes after speed safety surveys identified roads that would benefit from a lower speed limit.
It is hoped that the change will encourage drivers to travel at a safer speed.
Councillor Rodney Bass, in charge of highways and transport, said: “Road safety and improving the road network is important to everyone, especially residents and commuters using Brentwood roads.”

The following roads are featured in the proposal: Honeypot Lane, from its junction with the A1023 London Road, travelling north for approximately 400 metres; Hogarth Avenue; Riseway; Shenfield Crescent; The Cobbles; Thomas Close; Weald Close; Langley Drive; Linkway Road; Selwood Drive; Belvedere Road; Brook Road; Wansford Close; Talbrook; Spital Lane; The grove; River Road; Leonard Way; Wingrave Crescent; Tern way; Hills Road; Hillside Walk; South Weald Road.
