BRENTWOOD Council will host its next senior safety day in Hutton in October.

The free event is about keeping elder residents informed on how to stay safe, with presentations from organisations such as the police and fire service a part of theday.

There will also be discussions about rogue traders, cold callers, online fraud. and participants will be informed about support services available to older residents, such as Home Instead and Papworth Trust.

Safer Brentwood will be launching their new Door Chain pilot at the event. The aim of the project is to make vulnerable residents in Brentwood feel safe in their own homes. The project is open to anyone who feels vulnerable to burglary, fraud or general safety at the home.

The event on Thursday, October 2, takes place at the Hutton Community Centre, and runs from 10am-3pm.
